Between Past and Future: FIER 50/UIPD 100

Fi$y years ago, the founding of FIER marked the succession of the UIPD (Union Interna=onale de Professeurs de la Méthode “Jaques-Dalcroze”), which had existed since 1926. Indeed, this year marks the centenary of the first organisa=on for Dalcroze Eurhythmics teachers, which was founded on August 28, 1926, following the First Congress on Rhythm held at the Ins=tut Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva. The transi=on from the UIPD to FIER took place in 1976 during a major mee=ng held in the Netherlands. At that =me, 16 countries were member sec=ons. Numerically, li[le has changed in this regard: today, there are 15. Another twelve countries are represented through individual memberships. The early branching out of the Dalcroze Method into other professional fields and into university educa=on has con=nued to diversify. FIER members strive to further develop the method— while preserving its core strategies—and to con=nue promo=ng its wider recogni=on, then as now.

Following in the footsteps of Jaques-Dalcroze, we are delighted that colleagues from training centers in Dresden, Vienna, and Geneva in coopera=on with the FIER commi[ee are cura=ng a diverse program featuring selected celebratory contribu=ons.

Entre passé et l’avenir : FIER 50/UIPD 100

Il y a cinquante ans, la fonda=on de la FIER a marqué le succès de l’UIPD (Union Interna=onale de Professeurs de la Méthode « Jaques-Dalcroze »), qui existait depuis 1926. Ce[e année marque en effet le centenaire de la première organisa=on pour les professeurs de rythmique Dalcroze, fondée le 28 août 1926, à la suite du Premier Congrès du Rythme tenu à l’Ins=tut Jaques-Dalcroze de Genève. La transi=on de l’UIPD à la FIER s’est effectuée en 1976 lors d’une importante réunion aux Pays-Bas. À ce[e époque, 16 pays sont devenus sec=ons membres. Numériquement, peu de choses ont changé à cet égard : aujourd’hui, il y en a 15. Douze autres pays sont représentés par des adhésions individuelles. L’expansion précoce de la Méthode Dalcroze vers d’autres domaines professionnels et l’enseignement universitaire s’est poursuivie. Les membres de la FIER s’efforcent de développer davantage la méthode – tout en préservant ses stratégies fondamentales – et de con=nuer à promouvoir sa reconnaissance, hier comme aujourd’hui.

Dans la lignée de Jaques-Dalcroze, nous sommes ravis que nos collègues des centres de forma=on de Dresde, Vienne et Genève, en collabora=on avec le comité FIER, conçoivent un programme varié présentant une sélec=on de contribu=ons commémora=ves.
