The Department of Music and Movement Education/Rhythmics and Music Physiology of the
mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, is offering a position of a
University Professor (f/m/d)
of Rhythmics / Music and Movement
according to § 98 UG.
Expected starting date: October 1st, 2026
Extent of employment: full-time
Contract: Permanent employment under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
Salary: According to the collective bargaining agreement, the minimum monthly gross salary
is € 6.604.30 (14 times per year). Any higher salary, depending on qualifications and previous
experience, is subject to negotiations.
Employment requirements:
• a completed relevant domestic or foreign Master’s, Magister, or Diploma degree in
Music and Movement Education/Rhythmics
• outstanding artistic and pedagogical qualifications in the relevant field
• documented excellence in artistic activity
• Proof of several years of relevant (pedagogical) and didactic experience in education
and/or continuing education
Desired qualifications:
• Experience in the development and exploration of the arts, as well as in artistic
research or exploration and theoretical work in the field of Music and Movement
Education/Rhythmics
• pedagogical experience with diverse target groups
• Realization of artistic projects in the fields of music and movement
• Demonstrated competencies in the dissemination of the arts within various social
contexts
• broad expertise in the areas of improvisation, voice, music and movement
• Leadership qualities
• Competence in gender, inclusion, and diversity
• Ability to work as part of a team
The required pedagogical and didactic aptitude will be assessed through a teaching
demonstration.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Representation of the field of Music and Movement Education/Rhythmics in the
development and exploration of the arts, including within an international context
• artistic-pedagogical teaching, supervision of final theses, examination duties, and
curriculum development
• Networking and cooperation with other departments and institutes within the mdw as
well as with external cultural and educational institutions in Austria and
internationally
• Development and implementation of innovative artistic impulses in teaching
• Participation in subject-relevant projects in artistic research and/or in research and
theory development in the field of Music and Movement Education/Rhythmics
• Participation in organizational, administrative, and evaluation tasks, as well as
committee work
• Perspectival (co-)leadership responsibilities
